The natural choline compound L-Alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine (alpha-GPC, choline alfoscerate) is present in the brain. It’s also a parasympathomimetic acetylcholine precursor that’s been studied for its use in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias care.
Alpha-GPC is a biosynthetic precursor to acetylcholine and delivers choline to the brain efficiently through the blood–brain barrier. In most countries, it is a non-prescription drug. The FDA determined that a daily dosage of no more than 196.2 mg per person is usually considered healthy (GRAS).
