Amfepramone is a stimulant drug which is used as an appetite suppressant in the groups of phenethylamine, amphetamine, and cathinone. It is used, along with dietary and behavioral improvements, in the short-term treatment of obesity.
Amfepramone is most closely linked to bupropion (formerly known as amfebutamone), an antidepressant and smoking cessation aid, which has also been developed as a weight loss drug in conjunction with naltrexone.
