Clonazolam (also known as Clonitrazolam and 6-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-methyl-8-nitro-4H-s-triazolo-(4,3-a)-(1,4)-benzodiazepine) is a benzodiazepine-class medium-lasting psychoactive medication that induces anxiolytic, sedative, hypnotic, muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant, and amnesic impact. Clonazolam binds to particular sites on the GABA receptor, like most benzodiazepines. Clonazolam is a novel derivative of clonazepam (Klonopin, Rivitrol) and alprazolam (Xanax), medicines approved by the FDA.
There is a quick onset of action and symptomatic relief with Clonazolam. Subjective studies indicate that the onset is between 20 and 60 minutes.
