Meclofenoxate (INN, BAN; Lucidril brand name, also known as centrophenoxine) is a cholinergic nootropic used in the diet. It’s a 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid ester of dimethylethanolamine (DMAE) (pCPA).
Meclofenoxate has been shown to increase results on some memory tests in elderly patients. Phospholipids in cellular membranes are also increased by meclofenoxate. It is available as a prescription drug in Japan and a few European countries, including Germany, Hungary, and Austria.
